In October 2004 I was commissioned to make a series of printed artworks for Buxton Ward in the Jenny Lind Children's Department of the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital.
The chosen theme was the beach and the seaside. My mind's eye turned to the splendid collection of beach huts which are a feature of the North Norfolk coastline. I have always loved this wild coastline, particularly its seal colonies. Here was my inspiration for the imaginary world depicted in my work for Buxton Ward.
The characters that inhabit this world were drawn from childhood daydreams. It was my best hope that children visiting the ward might like to enter into their own imaginary worlds.
